Shira Glushakow-Smith, PhD
Shira is a postdoctoral fellow in the Tothova Lab. She completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences in Dr. Kira Gritsman’s lab at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY) in 2024. The focus of her thesis work was investigating the roles of the PI3 Kinase signaling pathway in pre-leukemic and leukemic stem cells. Shira completed two years of post-baccalaureate research in the laboratory of Dr. Bernard Moss at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID – NIH), where she studied human host range restriction factors of Vaccinia Virus. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Bioinformatics from Towson University (Baltimore, MD). When not in lab, Shira enjoys being active with her puppy (Napa), hanging out with friends, watching sports, and traveling around the world. |
